The Paper Marbling Workshop conducted by Yang Xiuting this morning kicked off the start of Mi Casa Su Casa's fringe activities! This workshop was adapted from a similar one Xiuting had conducted in the Borong-Polok Paper Making Unit in South Sikkim, India, as a volunteer in 2011. Participants learnt how to make their own combs, the mixing of inks such that they will float, as well as capturing the designs on the size by laying paper on its surface. The paper, handmade from the bark of the Argali shrub, is also a product of the paper making unit in Sikkim. Here are some photos from the workshop. Yang Xiuting is currently pursuing a degree in Fine Arts and majored in Printmaking in LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore. She is also a member of the POPIN Craft Community.
Make marbled paper by forming patterns on liquid and create monoprints!
Yang Xiuting will share her experience with conducting a similar Paper Marbling workshop as a volunteer, that took place at the Borong-Polok Handmade Paper Unit. The Argali Paper used as the base material in this workshop is brought back from this handmade paper unit based in Sikkim, India. Sign up by 7th August! |
