YOGYAKARTA FAQ
Climate
Weather is unpredictable in Yogyakarta. It is generally warm and humid in the day, but the temperature may drop in the evenings. Sun is up by 5am and sets by 5.30pm. Have a look at the weather forecast before coming.
Environment
You are separated from a padi field by a small river, and close to nature. OMAHKU is a gated compound, but there will be bugs and other creepy crawlies, and the occasional crab, monitor lizard or baby cobra. The mosquitoes naturally appear from 5pm and disappear by sunrise. Get ready some extra refills for your electric mosquito repellant

Bahasa Indonesia, Javanese - We're located in Central Java by the way! Travel just 30min-1hour out from Yogyakarta city and you will experience a different accent and cuisine.
Etiquette

Attire
Conservative. For ladies, do not wear sleeveless/translucent tops, bottoms should be at least knee-length. It may be considered disrespectful as a majority of the population in Indonesia is Muslim.
Bring along a Jacket as it can get cooler in the evenings (18-24deg Celcius). Sandals can be purchased at about 50,000 Rp.
Getting Around
Download the GO-JEK App which will allow you to travel further at an economic rate. Travel to places with your hosts also where convenient at the GO-RIDE rate. More info here regarding bicycle rental and etc.

Do not drink water from tap. Always buy or boil your water. Water is provided at OMAHKU, however if you prefer to have a personal gallon in KAMARMU, top up 50,000 Rp with your hosts.

RESIDENCY FAQ
Residency Fee
The rate includes all facilities mentioned in AMENITIES.
We also offer a special rate for students who are interested to experience making art away from home.
This fee is due within 30 days after the confirmation of the residency is sent via email.

Fee Excludes
All other expenses, like transportation, materials, meals, equipment, mentorship, assistance fee, parking, co-ordination fees for activities on-site (eg. in-house/external workshops, day trips, etc) are the responsibility of each AIR.
Non-financial Support
Your hosts will be able to assist resident artists to make connections with local artists and provide introductions to art events such as exhibition openings and studio visits.
For residents staying for more than 28 days, an Open Studio session can be organised upon request. For residents interested to make a small solo show, you will be able to make use of OMAHKU's facilities to do so for free. Alternatively, your hosts can help to link you up with peers with spaces you can rent.

Nobody enjoys house rules, but we have worked hard to create a nice environment for you to continue your art practice. As the residency is a shared house, we would like to build a peaceful and harmonious relationship with you and the house rules will be sent to you when you are confirmed.
Check-in & Check-out
Check-in time is between 1:00pm - 20:00pm.
Please alert us if you will arrive at any time before or after this period.
Check out time is between 08:00am - 12:00nn.
You will be charged an extra night if you check out after 12:00nn.
