Mural Painting On site, 25 March - 4 April 2018
|
After living at Omahku for nearly 2 months, Noe decided to take over one of the walls in Omahku. Currently running self-initiated projects with other local artist studios, he spent his free time pondering about the sketch and completed this mural facing the rice field across the tiny river between the residency house. Host Veri provided advice on suitable paints used locally for the project and where to purchase it, as well as provided support in other logistical matters to facilitate the project.

Collaborative Projects, 4 April - 28 April 2018
Noe produced a limited edition run of hand printed (silkscreened, linocut printed) artist books during a residency at a local printmaking studio. Being new to self publishing, he enlisted the mentorship of Host Mei in binding them whole.
These artist books were produced for the exhibition 'Feed To Last' at Bentara Budaya Yogyakarta from 3 May - 12 May 2018. |
This triggered another project where he worked together with the assistance of Host Mei in putting together the content with advanced book binding techniques in producing a publication for his solo show at Kebun Bibi gallery, books and cafe, which comprised of a compilation of images, artwork and writings of his 3 month residency in Yogyakarta.

Solo Exhibition, 28 April - 19 May 2018
|
Noe had wanted to paint murals as an expression of his mind, so his hosts introduced him to the art director of Kebun Bibi, Mas Sigit Bapak, who hosts the Kiss On The Wall project on the property of Kebun Bibi.
His initial plan was rejected on the account that his portfolio didn't show a street artist's profile, but was offered to do a solo exhibition in the gallery space of Kebun Bibi instead, where he was given the freedom to express and explore the entire 4m x 7m space. To sum up his journey in Yogyakarta, he showed images enlarged from his self publication, wheat pasted on the walls, installations of music videos he shot in collaboration with other local artists and also offered some stencilled posters for sale. |
